Argentina – Colombia

Argentina are pressed to the wall by the public eye after failing to impress in the first round and failing to start the tournament with a win. Now their task is simple – to win.

There is no second opinion on the simple matter that Argentina are superior to Colombia in every aspect of the game – they have better players who play for the biggest teams in Europe, but it is true that Argentinian national teams does not play as a team. It was obvious in the first match that these players aren’t used to play with each other and that was the main reason why hosts ruined their chances of getting all the points. Now they have a chance to show that the lack of quality in their game is in the past.

However Colombia is leaded by Falcao – the hottest striker in Europe this season who is wanted by the top teams. His skills are amazing and with such players as Guarin, Yepes, Moreno and Ramos, Colombia seems like a hard nut to crack. Also it is a positive for them that they enter the game as outsiders and they do not have to deal with the mental pressure unlike their hosts tonight.

Argentina: Romero; Zanetti, Milito, Burdisso, Zabaleta; Cambiasso, Mascherano, Banega; Lavezzi, Tevez, Messi

Colombia: Martinez; Zuniga, Yepes, Perea, Armero; Sanchez; D. Moreno, Guarin, Aguilar, Ramos; Falcao

21.11.2007 WCQL Colombia 2-1 Argentina
03.07.2007 CA Argentina 4-2 Colombia

It will be a tough game for home team. They have the class and the quality, but they must start playing as a team if they want to win their home Copa America. Argentina starting eleven is looking strong enough to overcome the solid Colombians, but if Messi and Co fails to win again they are facing a huge crisis. I do not expect a high scoring game, but I do believe that finally Argentina will show some class and will win against a strong opponent like Colombia. There are no injury worries in both camps ahead of the match.

Colombia will try to keep the lines tight in defense and will use hard tackles concentrated in the central part of the pitch in order to stop the fast counters of the hosts. If Di Maria enters this game and Messi start playing as a winger I could easily see Argentina as a more dangerous team, but we’ll find out very soon what will happen. Also I’ll try the under 2.5 goals option as I have a hunch that there will not be plenty of goals.

Good Luck!
