Brazil squad for Copa America 2011

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Victor (Gremio), Jefferson (Botafogo)

Defenders: Dani Alves (Barcelona), Maicon (Inter Milan), Andre Santos (Fenerbahce), Adriano (Barcelona), Lucio (Inter Milan), David Luiz (Chelsea), Thiago Silva (Milan), Luisao (Benfica)

Midfielders: Lucas (Liverpool), Ramires (Chelsea), Sandro (Tottenham), Elias (Atletico Madrid), Lucas (Sao Paulo), Jadson (Shakhtar), Elano (Santos), Paulo Henrique Ganso (Santos)

Forwards: Alexandre Pato (Milan), Neymar (Santos), Fred (Fluminense), Robinho (Milan)

At first glance it seems to me that Brazil posses the best defenders in Copa America this year. Two best right backs in the world – Alves and Maicon, great left beck in the face of Adriano, really rock strong central defenders like Lucio and Luisao who areĀ  greatly experienced and young and talanted players like Silva and Luiz.

The midfield lacks imagination as most of the players are definitely up to a more defensive uproach and prefer to break the game in stead of show creativity. However due to the tactics these could be in Brazil favour. Althogh I doubt that Brazil will produce a first class show with these players on the pitch.

Pato and Neymar will be the fresh faces upfront and i hope they’ll have a chance to prove themselves as ready to be regulars. Fred is a good choice for a late minute substitution, while is the biggest name in the attack. However I doubt he’ll play as a striker I see him more as a winger, but we’ll see. I admit that a little bit disappointed with the 23 chosen man as I would have loved to see in the squad at least one of these footballers- Hulk, Ronnie again, Douglas Costa, Marcelo, M.Bastos and Kaka.

Player to watch: Neymar – definitely he’s the most exciting name on the lips of every fan of Brazil.
